It’s hard to believe. Christmas is almost here and the New Year is right around the corner.

I am not a great proponent of New Year’s Resolutions but I thought that these 4 simple steps have a lot of value.

1.     Invite good luck.

Folks in Spain and South America celebrate the New Year by eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight-one for every chime of the clock.  The tradition is said to guarantee success in the year ahead. Since grapes are loaded with healthy minerals, it’s a fun ritual that’s good for you. Whether its grapes or champagne, it’s the process of positive thought that counts.

2.     Pat yourself on the back today.

Make a list of new healthy habits, smart choices and everything else you did right during the last 12 months. We tend to remember only what we did wrong. Seeing your achievements in print helps ignite the self-confidence you need to make 2010 an even bigger success.

3.     No Stress Resolution.

Make a one month’s resolution. Research shows three to four weeks is all the time you need to make a habit automatic. Once you’ve achieved that short-term goal, you’ll have enough motivation to get through one more month-and then another.

4.     Be nice –you’ll feel happier.

Studies show that every time you do something nice, you feel happier. Catch someone else doing something kind. Noting the positive actions of others will boost your mood and theirs as well.
